ARC focuses on why individuals seek addictive behavior and substances as a means of avoiding emotional pain. We understand that addictive behavior and substances are the solution, not the problem. Thus, it is important to address trauma, abuse, abandonment, co-dependency and shame as the core issues leading to addictive behavior.
ARC is different and we provide a different way to treat people. We understand that you are more than another body or another insurance card. Without addressing core issues, which answer the question ‘why do I keep getting high’, getting well is impossible.
At the center of what we do is providing a safe community that exudes love, support and modeling healthy attachments.
David Kolker grew up in St. Louis, MO later relocating to South Florida to pursue his interest in Mental Health. David holds a Master Degree in Social Work, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Juris Doctorate (Law Degree). He is the Clinical Director/CEO and a primary therapist that thrives on working closely with clients and watching them grow as individuals.
David is published in the area of evidenced-based therapy and specializes in family dynamics and relationships as they relate to recovery. It was his dream to start an Outpatient program that focuses on underlying core issues, healthy attachments, childhood trauma and family of origin issues. He believes that historically, typical treatment, has avoided these issues; thus, creating a 95% failure rate of inpatient treatment for the past 30-40 years.
David spends his spare time with his adorable infant twin children, stepchildren and amazing wife. His love for his family carries over into the environment he has taken great care to establish at SLO Recovery Centers.
